Message

After studying English education at the University of Colorado, I worked as an English teacher in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan while conducting research on cross-cultural communication. My interests in Japan range from the Tale of Genji to the films of Nagisa Oshima and Takeshi Kitano. I am very interested in film and television history and the impact of mass media on culture. I came to the School of International Studies, the first of its kind in Hokkaido, to teach real, natural, spoken English and North American Culture through television, TV commercials, and other cultural artifacts.
