Hokkaido Bunkyo University will carry out the following activities over the next five years in order to cultivate outstanding human resources who can thrive in an accelerating global society.
- Internationalization on campus
- Promoting the acceptance of international students not only from China but also from various Asian countries
- Global Community Center (GCC) facility development
- Expanding opportunities to promote interaction between local residents and international students
- Promoting student study abroad
- Effective use of scholarships for short-term international students (targeting sending more than 30 students per year)
- Diversification of short-term study abroad programs
- Expansion of scholarship system for long-term international students (target number of students sent: 2 or more per year)
- Consider providing full financial support for study abroad expenses to outstanding students (target number of students to be sent: 2 or more per year)
- Enhancing foreign language education
- Enhancing small class sizes and ensuring their quality
- Introduction of educational support systems for language acquisition and their effective use
- Setting goals for various proficiency tests such as TOEIC, EIKEN, and Tourist English Test
(For the time being, Faculty of Foreign Languages: TOEIC 600 points, Eiken Grade 2, Tourism Eiken Grade 3) - Expansion of courses taught entirely in English
(The immediate goal for the Faculty of Foreign Languages is 30% of the specialized subjects offered.) - Strengthening English education for those hoping to become elementary school teachers
- Enhancement of e-learning education
- Cultivating employability abroad, supporting foreign students in finding employment in Japan
- Development of overseas internships combined with overseas language training
(Aiming to send 10 people per year) - Employment support for international students
- Development of overseas internships combined with overseas language training
- Collaboration with overseas universities
- Expanding international exchange agreements with English-speaking universities overseas (from two to five within five years)
- Promote more advanced collaboration with overseas universities (tandem learning, etc.)
- Contributing to the globalization of local governments, businesses, and residents
- Corporate internship placements for international students
- Supporting English education in local primary schools
- Support for local government website multilingualization
- Supporting local companies in responding to globalization
- Support for disseminating information about daily life to foreign residents in the area through local broadcasting
- Cooperation and support for local international sister city organizations
- Holding public lectures aimed at globalization for local residents
- Holding an exchange event between international and Japanese students and local residents at the Global Community Center (GCC) on campus
