1. Diploma Policy

The Department of Regional Future Studies will award a Bachelor's degree in Regional Future Studies to students who have acquired the required credits in accordance with the course regulations, completed the required number of years of study, and are deemed to have acquired the following abilities:

• Understand the role of education in the local community, acquire specialized knowledge and skills in education, and have the ability to continue learning throughout their lives (knowledge and skills).
• By gaining a deep understanding of the value of local history, culture, and diverse resources, and by creating new value, we can realize a sustainable society and communicate and pass on this knowledge to the next generation (knowledge and skills).
• As a core coordinator in the local community, you will be able to create connections with a variety of actors and co-create an inclusive and sustainable local community with others (knowledge and skills).
• Able to identify local issues from a broad perspective and take initiative in solving them, while also being able to contribute to the development of human resources and the establishment of organizational structures capable of working together in the local community (thinking, judgment, expression).
• While adapting to changes such as the digitalization of local communities, students will be able to consider the nature of education that takes into account the characteristics of the region and contribute to developing people who will lead the region into the future (thinking, judgment, expression).
• By encouraging and supporting the learning activities of motivated and independent individuals and companies in the local community, we can contribute to the realization of a lifelong learning society (interest, motivation, attitude).

2. Curriculum Policy

The Department of Regional Future Studies has organized its curriculum in a systematic way that includes liberal arts subjects, specialized foundation subjects, and specialized subjects in order to cultivate the specialized knowledge and skills necessary for the development of local communities and the realization of a sustainable society.

1. Education content

   (knowledge/skills)

   • In order to develop specialized knowledge and skills in pedagogy and social education, and to foster the ability to continue learning throughout one's life, we offer subjects such as "Educational Fundamentals," "Lifelong Education," and "Regional Education," as well as liberal arts subjects.
   • The course includes the following subjects: "Regional Understanding," "International Understanding Education," "Urban Development and Regional Policy," and "Practical Practice," in order to develop the planning, practical, and communication skills necessary to realize a sustainable society by gaining a deep understanding of the history, culture, and value of local resources, and by creating new value using local resources.
   • The courses offered include "Regional Understanding," "Regional Creation," "Regional Future Basics," and "Regional Future Exercises" in order to develop the communication, collaboration, and coordination skills necessary to build relationships with people from various fields related to the region and to support collaboration between diverse parties and the promotion of projects.

   (Thinking, Judgment, Expression)

   • The course includes "Regional Creation," "Regional Future Seminar," and "Regional Future Exploration," as well as "Graduation Research," in order to develop students' ability to discover and analyze various issues in their local communities, and their ability to take independent and proactive action to solve these issues and spread and develop the results.
   • Through the collection and analysis of digitized information, we offer subjects such as "Nature and Science (Liberal Arts Subjects)" and "Regional Future Exploration" as well as "Graduation Research" to develop the information gathering and processing skills necessary to accurately grasp the current state of education and topics in the region, as well as flexible thinking and communication skills to respond to change.

   • The course includes "lifelong education," "community education," and "community creation" to develop the facilitating skills to connect the local community with the free and active learning activities of the diverse actors active in the community.
2. Education method
   • In addition to lecture-style classes, we practice active learning methods such as small classes, student participation classes, and classes using ICT in order to encourage students to take an active role in their learning.
   • In order to develop problem-finding and solving skills as well as logical thinking skills, we provide an education that emphasizes active exploration of issues.
   • We incorporate group learning to improve the communication skills necessary to work together to solve problems and move things forward.
   • Courses designed to equip students with the ability to understand cutting-edge research results, investigative skills including hypothesis testing, and logical problem-solving skills are delivered in small-group seminar formats to teach the fundamentals of research.
3. educational evaluation
   • Depending on the characteristics of the subject, students will be objectively assessed on their achievement of the learning goals outlined in the syllabus, including through class participation, quizzes, comprehension tests, and the submission of reports and other work.
