Graduate School of Child Development Child Development Major (Master's Program)
1. Diploma Policy
The Graduate School of Child Development awards a Master's degree in Child Development to students who have acquired the required credits according to the course regulations, completed the required number of years of study, and are deemed to have acquired the following abilities:
- To be able to provide appropriate support, guidance, and education in response to the diversification of child development and needs that accompany changes in families and local communities. (Knowledge and Skills)
- In education and childcare, you will be able to develop practices that consider the continuity between early childhood and school-age children. (Knowledge and Skills)
- Able to provide inclusive education and support for children with diverse needs in education and childcare. (Knowledge and Skills)
- Able to promote educational research to realize appropriate education and support for children's growth and development (thinking, judgment, expression).
- By learning from the exchange of theory and practice, students are aware of their role as mid-level leaders who can develop creative practices to realize the growth and development of children. (Interest, motivation, attitude)
2. Curriculum Policy
The Graduate School of Child Development's Department of Child Development has organized an educational curriculum consisting of subjects in "child development" and "child development support education related," as well as "basic subjects for practical skills," "subjects that learn by integrating theory and practice," and "research guidance" to train practitioners of early childhood education and school education who are well-versed in supporting the development of infants and children with diverse needs and who have more advanced practical skills.

- In order to learn the psychology, pedagogy, and special needs education necessary to provide appropriate support, guidance, and education that responds to the actual state of children's development and the diversification of their needs, lecture subjects and practical exercises are included in the "child development support education related" subject group.
- In order to develop the ability to implement practices that take into account the continuity of developmental tasks, educational curricula, and learning styles from early childhood to school age, lectures and seminars will be offered in the "Child Development" subject group.
- In order to develop the ability to provide inclusive education and support to children with diverse needs, subjects related to special needs education will be appropriately placed in the "Child Development Support Education Related" subject group.

- A group of "research guidance" subjects will be provided in order to teach the knowledge and skills that are the foundation of research.

- In order to learn about the exchange between theory and practice, we have set up a group of subjects called "Child Development Support Education Related Seminar Subjects" and "Child Development Studies Practical Seminar Subjects."

- Research guidance involves writing a master's thesis and exploring various issues related to child development.

- For lectures and seminars, students will be evaluated on the content of reports, presentations and discussions given in class.
- Master's theses are evaluated through a process involving multiple thesis supervisors and thesis examiners.
3. Student Admission Policy

The Graduate School of Child Development conducts educational research from early childhood to school age, and accepts as students the following types of people who aim to work in education and childcare and who want to become practitioners of early childhood education and school education with advanced practical skills well versed in supporting the development of infants and children: (In principle, university graduates of education and childcare fields are required, but applications are also accepted from university graduates of fields other than education and childcare.)

- Someone who aims to become an educator or childcare worker who can provide inclusive education and support to both general children and children with disabilities.
