1. Diploma Policy

[Physical Therapy Major]

The Department of Rehabilitation, Department of Physical Therapy, awards a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy to students who have been enrolled at the university for four or more years, completed liberal arts, basic specialized subjects, and specialized subjects set by the Department of Physical Therapy, earned a total of 4 or more credits, and are recognized as having the following abilities:

• Acquire basic professional knowledge and skills to perform physical therapy. (Knowledge and Skills)
• Have the ability to flexibly adapt to highly specialized and diversified medical technology. (Knowledge and Skills)
• Have the ability to comprehensively grasp various issues in the fields of medical care, health, and welfare, and to analyze and solve data (thinking, judgment, expression).
• From the perspective of preventive medicine, be able to take on a wide range of rehabilitation related to the promotion and maintenance of health and lifelong mental and physical health. (Knowledge and Skills)
• Be able to contribute to improving the quality of medical care and health care throughout one's life, while keeping in mind the progress of globalization. (Interest, motivation, attitude)
• Understand the interprofessional collaboration that supports community medical care and be able to proactively build cooperative relationships (interest, motivation, attitude)
• To be able to broadly improve one's education, have a rich humanity and a high sense of ethics, and be able to adapt to social changes, and contribute to the sustainable development of physical therapy and support society. (Interest, motivation, attitude)

[Occupational Therapy Major]

The Department of Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy major awards a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy to students who have acquired the required credits in accordance with the course regulations, completed the required number of years of study, and are deemed to have acquired the following abilities:

• Acquire basic professional knowledge and skills to perform occupational therapy. (Knowledge and Skills)
• Have the ability to flexibly adapt to highly specialized and diversified medical technology. (Knowledge and Skills)
• Have the ability to comprehensively grasp various issues in the fields of medical care, health, and welfare, and to analyze and solve data (thinking, judgment, expression).

2. Curriculum Policy

[Physical Therapy Major]

• The Department of Rehabilitation, Department of Physical Therapy, has an educational curriculum that systematically arranges liberal arts subjects, specialized foundation subjects, and specialized subjects in order to cultivate the knowledge and skills required for physical therapists.
• You will be eligible to take the national physical therapist examination.
• Education content

  • The specialized basic subjects that form the foundation for acquiring the knowledge and skills of physical therapists include the following subjects: "Structure and function of the human body, and physical and mental development," "The origins of disease and disability, and promoting the recovery process," "Principles of health, medical welfare, and rehabilitation," and "Basics of physical therapy."
  • The following subjects are offered as specialized subjects to enhance expertise as a physical therapist: "Basic Physical Therapy," "Physical Therapy Management," "Physical Therapy Evaluation," "Physical Therapy Treatment," "Community Physical Therapy," and "Clinical Training."
  • In order to develop the ability to comprehensively grasp the various issues in medical care, health, and welfare, and to analyze data and solve them, the program offers a range of subjects for clinical training, subjects related to physical therapy research, as well as the following courses: "Introduction to Data Science and AI", "Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Practice", "Statistics Fundamentals", "Medical Statistics", and "Statistics and Social Survey Methods".
  • In order to develop the ability to provide a wide range of rehabilitation from a preventive medical perspective, we offer the following courses: "Rehabilitation Nutrition," "Public Health," "Sports Physical Therapy Practicum," and "Training and Conditioning Physical Therapy Practicum."

  • In order to develop the ability to explore issues in the field of physical therapy, a group of subjects (physical therapy research methods, physical therapy research seminar) that lead to fourth-year research (physical therapy research) are included.
  • In order to develop communication skills that can be used in clinical settings and research, we have established a group of "clinical training" subjects and fourth-year research (physical therapy research).

  • In order to respond to globalization and foster an international perspective, we offer a group of liberal arts foreign language subjects and a group of general studies subjects that focus on training.
  • In order to train talent who understand the multi-disciplinary collaboration that supports community medical care and can proactively build cooperative relationships, the program offers courses such as "Clinical Training II (Visiting/Day Care)," "Introduction to Medicine," "Introduction to Team Medicine," "Community-Based Care System Theory," and "Community Physical Therapy."
  • In order to cultivate a broad range of knowledge, rich humanity, high ethical standards, and the ability to adapt to social changes, as well as the ability to contribute to the sustainable development of physical therapy and support society, students will be offered subjects such as "Introduction to Medicine," "End-of-Life Care," and subjects related to physical therapy research in addition to liberal arts subjects.
  • By learning about the SDGs in the first-year general education course, students will develop the ability to consider the content of their university studies from the perspective of the SDGs.

  • The courses aimed at imparting the ability to understand cutting-edge research results, the ability to identify problems, and the ability to solve logical problems are delivered in small-group seminar format to teach the fundamentals of research.
  • In order to develop problem-finding and problem-solving skills as well as logical thinking skills, we will implement an education that emphasizes active self-exploration of issues (active learning). We will encourage independent learning before and after classes.
  • In order to cultivate intellectual curiosity, i.e. the ability to discover problems, and to improve communication skills, we incorporate interactive and student-participation teaching methods such as group learning.
  • In order to acquire the basic skills of a physical therapist, clinical training is conducted in a hands-on format involving medical treatment.

  • In order to develop the ability to provide a wide range of rehabilitation from the perspective of preventive medicine, we offer the courses of "Rehabilitation Nutrition," "Public Health," and "Industrial Occupational Therapy."

  • A group of "clinical training" subjects are provided to cultivate practical skills and communication abilities in clinical situations.
  • In order to develop the ability to explore issues in the field of occupational therapy, the course includes "Introduction to Mathematics, Data Science, and AI," "Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Practice," "Occupational Therapy Research Methods," and "Occupational Therapy Research Methods Exercises I and II."
  • In order to develop communication skills that can be used in clinical and research situations, we have established a group of subjects called "Clinical Training" and "Occupational Therapy Research Methods Seminar I and II."

  • In order to train personnel who understand the multi-disciplinary collaboration that supports community medical care and can proactively build cooperative relationships, we offer the following subjects: "Home Visit/Day Care Training," "Introduction to Medicine," "Introduction to Team Medical Care," "Community Comprehensive Care System Theory," and "Community Occupational Therapy."
  • In order to cultivate a broad range of knowledge, a rich humanity, a strong sense of ethics, and the ability to adapt to social changes, and to contribute to the sustainable development of occupational therapy and support society, the program offers liberal arts subjects as well as subjects such as "Introduction to Medicine," "End-of-Life Care," and subjects related to occupational therapy research.
  • Based on occupational therapy theory, we have established "Occupational Therapy for Improving Daily Living Activities" to foster an attitude that respects the autonomy and individuality of the individual in improving daily living activities.
