Three Policies

Students enrolled in 2024 or later

1. Diploma Policy

The Department of Health and Nutrition will award a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition to students who have acquired the required credits in accordance with the course regulations, completed the required number of years of study, and are deemed to have acquired the following abilities.

  • In order to solve various problems related to food and health in local and international communities, students systematically acquire advanced specialized knowledge required for maintaining and promoting health. (Knowledge and Skills)
  • Students have acquired the necessary skills to understand and utilize data science and contribute to improving the food environment and quality of life (QOL) based on scientific evidence. (Knowledge and Skills)
  • They have acquired the theories and techniques necessary to be leaders who can work in collaboration with other fields to improve people's nutrition and promote their health. (Knowledge and Skills)
  • Based on the knowledge and understanding gained, students will be able to appropriately gather information on issues related to food, health, and nutrition, and analyze and verify it scientifically (thinking, judgment, and expression).
  • They have the communication skills to work collaboratively in regions and organizations in the international community, making use of their specialized knowledge, not just in the limited field related to their job. (Thinking, judgment, expression)
  • Possess the necessary membership and leadership for collaboration and cooperation among multiple professions and institutions involved in food and nutrition, and the ability to manage with a focus on the subject (thinking, judgment, expression).
  • From a sense of ethics and mission as a member of society and a professional, we will have the awareness and motivation to contribute to maintaining and improving people's health, and will be able to proactively improve the latest knowledge and skills required throughout our lives and disseminate necessary information.   • From the perspective of "food and nutrition," we can make integrated proposals regarding "housing," "medical care," "nursing care," "prevention," and "lifestyle support" so that the target person can continue to live a life that is true to themselves until the end of their life. 2. Curriculum Policy

The Department of Health and Nutrition has organized its curriculum in a systematic way, including liberal arts subjects, specialized foundation subjects, and specialized subjects, in order to cultivate the knowledge and skills necessary for a registered dietitian who will be active in society.
・You can obtain a nutritionist license, eligibility to take the national registered dietitian examination, a first-class nutrition teacher license, and a food hygiene manager and food hygiene inspector (appointment qualification).

  1. Educational content (knowledge and skills)
    • The subjects of "Society, Environment and Health," "Structure and Function of the Human Body and the Origin of Disease," and "Food and Health" are offered as basic specialized subjects necessary for understanding the concepts of nutrition and health and disease.
    • The courses offered are "Basic Nutrition," "Applied Nutrition," "Nutrition Education," "Clinical Nutrition," "Public Health Nutrition," and "School Lunch Management," and are specialized subjects designed to help dietitians acquire the knowledge and skills required in the workplace.

    • The course includes "Comprehensive Seminar," "Comprehensive (Graduation Research)," and "Clinical Training," in order to develop the ability to appropriately plan, execute, evaluate, and judge the work of a registered dietitian based on scientific evidence.

    • In order to create a clear image of a registered dietitian, the introductory education will include "Introduction to registered dietitians," "Diet and lifestyle education seminars," "Introduction to nutrition," "Introduction to team medicine," "Introduction to nutrition teachers," "Basic chemistry," and "Basic biology."
    • In order for elderly people to learn the importance of "food and nutrition" as they continue to live their own lives until the end of their lives, the subjects of "applied nutrition," "nutritional education," and "public nutrition" are offered.
  2. Education method
    • Small-group instruction will be provided for seminars and practical training, allowing students to receive education tailored to their abilities.
  3. educational evaluation
    • Depending on the characteristics of the subject, students will be objectively assessed on their level of acquisition of a wide range of knowledge through exams, reports, deliverables, etc.

3. Student Admission Policy

The Department of Health and Nutrition accepts students who wish to work as registered dietitians in society, contribute to people's health and social welfare, and are proactive in pursuing an education that will enable them to do so.

  • In order to study nutrition, which is the academic basis for registered dietitians, students have acquired the basic academic ability required in subjects such as biology, chemistry, and Japanese, as well as general arithmetic skills.

  • Someone who can think for themselves about a problem, asking questions such as "what is the problem?" and "what is needed to solve it."

  • A person who has acquired the ability to work collaboratively with others in experiments, practical training, etc.

  • Acquire the knowledge and skills to properly manage a specific food service facility and provide a specific number of people with appropriate nutritional management on an ongoing basis (Knowledge and Skills)
  • Based on the knowledge and understanding gained, students will be able to appropriately gather information on health and nutrition issues and scientifically analyze and verify it. (Thinking, Judgment, Expression)
  • Acquire the communication skills necessary to provide nutritional management and nutritional education to the target individuals (thinking, judgment, expression).
  • Possess the management skills to supervise and manage the departments that employ registered dietitians and those that operate school lunches, and the leadership skills to lead a team. (Thinking, judgment, expression)
  • Able to carry out appropriate activities within a collaborative medical/health team (interest, motivation, attitude)
  • Be aware and motivated to contribute to maintaining and improving people's health, act proactively, and disseminate necessary information. (Interest, motivation, attitude)
  • In the community-based comprehensive care system, from the perspective of "food and nutrition," "housing," "medical care," "nursing care," "prevention," and "lifestyle support" can be provided seamlessly and in an integrated manner so that elderly people can continue to live their own way in the areas they are familiar with until the end of their lives.
