1. Diploma Policy

The Department of Child Development will award a Bachelor's degree in Child Development to students who have acquired the required credits in accordance with the course regulations, completed the required number of years of study, and are deemed to have acquired the following abilities:

• In addition to a general understanding of the physical and mental growth and development of children, students have acquired basic knowledge about infants, school-age children, and children with disabilities. (Knowledge and Skills)
• As a person involved in education, childcare, and child-rearing support, I have acquired the educational ability to identify the characteristics and developmental needs of each child and respond to them. (Knowledge and Skills)
• Furthermore, as childcare workers, educators, and child-rearing supporters, they have acquired the basic qualities to respond to the needs of the local community and parents, cooperate with their colleagues, and support the growth and development of children in accordance with their diverse realities. • Acquire the interpersonal communication skills to interact and form cooperative relationships with colleagues, parents, and local people in the fields of education, childcare, and child-rearing support (thinking, judgment, expression).
• In a changing society, students are able to respond appropriately to educational needs, understand the most appropriate ways of childcare and education, and acquire the ability to collect and analyze information and lead to problem-solving (thinking, judgment, expression).
• Under the various conditions surrounding today's education, childcare, and parenting support, students will acquire the sense of ethics and mission expected of childcare workers and educators, as well as the motivation and attitude to constantly learn, think deeply, make appropriate judgments, and work collaboratively with others to realize a better educational environment and educational practices (interest, motivation, and attitude).

2. Curriculum Policy

The Department of Child Development has organized an educational curriculum that systematically arranges liberal arts subjects, specialized foundation subjects, and specialized subjects in order to cultivate the knowledge and skills necessary for kindergarten, elementary school, and special needs educators and childcare workers.
It is possible to obtain three qualifications/licenses by combining either {"Childcare worker qualification", "First-class kindergarten teacher license", "First-class elementary school teacher license"}, {"Childcare worker qualification", "First-class kindergarten teacher license", "First-class special needs school teacher license"}, or {"First-class kindergarten teacher license", "First-class elementary school teacher license", "First-class special needs school teacher license"}.

1. Educational content (knowledge and skills)
   • In the first year, in addition to introductory education on scientific research methods through "Basic Seminars" and "Expression IV Japanese Expression," a basic education subject for developing writing skills, we also offer "Children and Human Relationships" as a subject on children's growth and development and the education that will realize it. (Knowledge and Skills)
   • In order to develop the knowledge and abilities required of those involved in education, childcare, and parenting support, we offer subjects such as "Infant Childcare I and II," "Educational Fundamentals," and "General Overview of Special Needs Education" to enable students to learn broadly about infants, school-age children, and children with disabilities.
   • In addition, courses such as "Childcare Worker Theory," "Introduction to Teaching Profession," and "Child and Family Support Theory" are available to help students gain deeper knowledge about childcare workers, educators, or child-rearing supporters.

   • A group of "off-campus/out-of-school training" subjects are provided to develop practical skills and communication abilities as people involved in education, childcare, and parenting support.
   • In order to develop the ability to think independently and investigatively about the nature of education and childcare, we offer courses such as "Child Studies Comprehensive Seminar I and II."

   • Based on the qualities of wishing for children's happiness and taking joy in growing together with children, in order to develop the qualities and abilities required of childcare workers and educators, we offer subjects such as "Child Psychology I and II," "Fundamentals and Methods of Educational Counseling," and "General Overview of Education for Developmental Disabilities" that teach scientific perspectives of psychology, pedagogy, special needs education, etc.
2. Education method
   • The first-year basic seminar will be held in a small seminar format.
   • By arranging pre- and post-training lectures on training preparation and follow-up guidance on reflection, we aim to combine theory and practice and develop practical skills.

   • Depending on the characteristics of the subject, the degree of acquisition of a wide range of knowledge will be objectively evaluated through exams, reports, deliverables, etc.
